Hi Bill, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began at the age of 11 when my father introduced me to local politics. I started volunteering for political campaigns and community events, which instilled in me a deep sense of service and community engagement. Growing up, I was surrounded by the entrepreneurial spirit of my parents, who ran the first grocery store in Wellson and later a metals recycling business. This exposure inspired me to purchase my first investment property at 19 while I was still in college and after graduation from the University of Virginia.

Over the following years I ventured into various roles, including working in political campaigns and community outreach. Each position allowed me to refine my skills and deepen my understanding of community and business dynamics.

In 2018, I founded MoveWorth, a digital strategy firm aimed at helping small businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies navigate the digital world. MoveWorth is the culmination of my experiences, driven by my endless curiosity and commitment to innovation. Our goal is to provide personalized, effective digital solutions that empower our clients to thrive.

My story is one of perseverance, adaptability, and an unwavering dedication to community and business growth. Through MoveWorth, I strive to make a positive impact, helping others succeed in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am today has certainly not been smooth. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of challenges and struggles. One of the most significant moments was pausing my successful residential contracting business to grieve the loss of my sister and father in 2006. That period was incredibly difficult, teaching me the importance of emotional resilience and the need to prioritize family and personal well-being.

Professionally, transitioning from various roles in politics, community outreach, and business development required constant adaptation and learning. Each position came with its unique set of challenges, whether it was engaging with stakeholders, managing public relations, or developing business strategies. These experiences, though challenging, helped shape my skills and perspective.

Starting MoveWorth in 2018 was another leap of faith. Building a business from the ground up involves endless hours of hard work, navigating financial uncertainties, and constantly staying ahead of digital trends. Then unfortunately I lost my mother in 2021 just as my business forunes were beginning to bear fruit. This was without question, the most devestating loss I have ever had to deal with. However, these struggles have been invaluable lessons, strengthening my resolve and commitment to providing the best for my clients.

Despite the obstacles, each struggle has made me more resilient and determined. They have been integral to my journey, teaching me empathy, patience, and the importance of perseverance.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck, both good and bad, has played a significant role in my life and business. On the positive side, many of our largest projects at MoveWorth stemmed from relationships I built over the years. These connections, nurtured with genuine care and commitment, have opened doors to incredible opportunities. And some good luck came from always trying to do the right things for my business to attract opportunities. For instance, our project with the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services’ Adult Protective Services (MO APS) came about because we took the necessary steps to go through the arduous and time consuming process to earn certifications that made such opportunities possible. This taught me that creating your own luck often involves hard work, preparation, and seizing the right moment.

On the flip side, like everyone, I’ve faced my share of bad luck. The loss of my sister in 2006 was a profound personal tragedy that caused me to pause my business ventures. However, these moments of adversity have taught me resilience and the importance of perseverance. They have shaped my approach to life and business, reinforcing the need to stay adaptable and maintain a positive outlook.

Ultimately, while luck plays a role, it’s the combination of relationships, preparation, and resilience that has guided my journey and the success of MoveWorth.
