Meet Relentless Jay of Saint Peters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Relentless Jay

Hi Relentless, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up in Okolona, Mississippi, I’ve always had an artistic mind and music playing in my head. I was always good with words when I wrote poems and essays in school. I wrote my first rap when I was like 15 or 16 but didn’t take it seriously. I started recording music in my closet while living in Starkville, Mississippi around 2010 and I taught myself how to make beats. In 2013, I moved to St. Louis, and I discovered a local artist named El Jae and started producing for him under the name Lil J From Da Sipp. El Jae and I had a pretty good run doing mixtapes from 2014 to 2019. I was starting to build my brand and started an online store for merch in 2020. I was looking to reinvent myself musically and changed my name to Relentless Jay, kinda like a play off my clothing line Relentless Hustle which eventually evolved into my official merch. In 2022, I released “Protectin Da Brand” which is my biggest streaming song on Spotify. The music is doing well on the music platforms mainly Spotify. The death of Memphis rapper Young Dolph inspired me to go ahead and be an artist. He was my favorite artist.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Music is so natural and organic to me. My creativity is always stimulated. I catch a vibe and just create. I have so much inspiration from everything around me and past experiences. I would say choosing which songs to release might be the most difficult thing because I have so much to express and so many different ways I could go artistically. Also I love designing so sometimes it’s hard to find a balance between making music and designing merch. Still trying

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a producer/recording artist/designer. I’ve produced for local artists like El Jae, I have released songs that are doing well on music platforms, and I also design my own merch. I feel what sets me apart from others is that I’m a triple threat. I can produce my own song, write the lyrics, release it, and design my own merch at a consistent level.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
October is my favorite month to create music. It’s something about October that just puts me in a different mode. I think it’s because I watch more horror films in October, and I draw a little inspiration from them and put it in the music. I think my fans and followers will love how I’m coming in October! Pushing hard to drop new merch as well! I’m excited!
