Community Highlights: Meet Arica Avery of STL’s Pot Chef

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arica Avery

Arica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began with a deep love for cooking and a fascination with the culinary arts. Growing up, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen, eating and experimenting with flavors and techniques. In college I began to explore cannabis as a unique ingredient, I realized its potential to elevate dishes in exciting ways.

The idea for STL Pot Chef emerged when I noticed a growing interest in cannabis-infused experiences, but there weren’t many high-quality options available in the St. Louis area. I wanted to create a platform that not only showcases delicious food and talented Chefs but also educates people on the culinary uses of cannabis.

I launched STL Pot Chef with the vision of hosting exclusive dinner events and competitions that bring together food lovers and cannabis enthusiasts in a safe, welcoming environment. Through hard work, collaboration, and a passion for what I do, I’ve built a community around our events, and I’m excited to continue expanding our offerings and making a positive impact in the local food scene and cannabis community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it’s been quite a journey! While I’m passionate about what I do, I’ve faced some significant challenges along the way. One of the toughest parts has been finding the right partners to collaborate with. I’ve met some amazing people, but I’ve also encountered those who don’t share my values or pride in their work. It’s disheartening when you realize that not everyone is equally invested in creating quality experiences.

I’ve also run into some people who seem more focused on making a quick buck rather than nurturing the craft. That can be really frustrating because it goes against everything I stand for with STL Pot Chef. I want to build something meaningful, and it’s tough when others don’t have that same vision.

Another struggle has been with the platforms I use for hosting my events. Sometimes, getting paid on time feels like pulling teeth! I’ve had to really advocate for myself to ensure that I’m treated fairly. While these bumps in the road can be discouraging, they’ve taught me valuable lessons about resilience and the importance of surrounding myself with people who share my passion and commitment.

Through it all, though, I remain focused on my mission, and I’m grateful for the supportive community I’ve built around STL Pot Chef.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about STL’s Pot Chef?

We specialize in hosting exclusive food events where guests can enjoy beautifully crafted dishes that highlight the flavors and benefits of cannabis. What sets us apart is our commitment to quality, collaboration and education. I’m most proud of the community we’ve built around STL Pot Chef. It’s incredibly rewarding to see guests not only enjoy the food but also engage in conversations about cannabis with small business owners, breaking down stereotypes and misconceptions. I aim to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable exploring new flavors.

What I want readers to know is that STL Pot Chef is more than just a dining experience; it’s a celebration of creativity, connection, and community. Whether you’re a seasoned cannabis enthusiast or just curious, our events are designed to cater to all tastes and preferences. We believe in the power of food to bring people together, and we’re excited to share this journey with our guests!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has nothing to do with my success in life. All the glory belongs to God. He directs my paths on everything especially with business. I’m really excited about the events we have lined up to close out the year. What I’m most grateful for is the chance to give back by co-hosting a Toy Drive for children in need this holiday season with Homegrown Family. We’re accepting unwrapped toy donations at all of my upcoming events, and we’re hoping to partner with local dispensaries as drop-off locations to reach even more kids.
