Conversations with Tabatha Gomillia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabatha Gomillia

Hi Tabatha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in St Louis Mo. I grew up in University City and Wellston Mo. At 18 years old, I enlisted in the United States Navy as an Electrician Mate. The best decision I ever made. Upon being honorable discharge I was accepted into IBEW international brotherhood of electrical workers Local One (JATC) joint apprenticeship training center. I currently work as an electrical inspector. As an electrical inspector, I constantly see the same pattern of problems in electrical industry. I wanted a way to share the knowledge and information that I have with the electrical contractors and electrical Industry. I had a vision to start an electrical podcast, allowing the electrical industry to call the podcast and ask the lady inspector any NEC electrical code related to the electrical contractors job project. The concept would allow the electrical contractor to ask a questions before having an inspection and the inspection fail. One small opportunity, one small decision, lead me to a lifetime continuous success and fulfillment.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Obedience is a great teacher. Placing ALL my trust in God has lead me to my purpose and destiny, it’s like picking up bread crumbs. Learning to trust my own instincts and judgment is a huge reward. I will continue to walk by Faith and action.. I have had a few unforeseen moments, but my Spiritual lessons prepared me to overcome these obstacles.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an electrician by trade. Currently, I work as a Lead electrical inspector. I inspect electrical installations for commercial and light residential projects throughout the St. Louis County Mo. I am known for going the extra mile to help the electrical contractors get through their electrical projects in a timely and orderly fashion. I try to inform the electrical contractor before the beginning of the project of all of the possible reasons that his project could be held up. I try to be proactive so that the inspection will not fail the electrical inspection, causing delays, time, money, energy, stress, etc.

I’m most proud of my status of being a veteran. I’m so proud that I took a chance at 18 years old and went out and did something positive with my life. That choice and that opportunity allow me to become the person that I am today. The Navy was a steppingstone, giving me the first opportunity to become an electrician. It truly changed my life, instilling discipline and structure in my life.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
God gave me a vision and I believed everything I have gone through has prepared me for this vision and I followed my passion, and trusted the process. I’m continuing to be obedient and see what this journey has to offer.
