Life & Work with Tay Waters of University City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Waters

Hi Tay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ive always been super girly, I love to get dolled up and pampered as well as pampering other girls. I’m the oldest of 4 girls. I vividly remember playing beauty parlor as little girls and I’d always be the one doing the service. I always knew I’d be the one to help women enhance their inner beauty. In high school, I was known for being the party girl who always had her hair lashes nails and toes done lol. I always stayed very well put together. After graduating high school, I started to attend community college to receive my degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement. Unfortunately during that time my parents were going through a divorce so focusing on school was pretty hard to do. I started doing eyelash extensions and it became my peace! Not only was I making money from it but I was truly enjoying it. It brought a certain kind of peace that I could not find anywhere else. I then became one of the best lash technicians in my area! Today I still hold that title and I expect to take my business very far and I plan to expand it further and further by the grace of god , he gave me an ability I’ll forever be grateful for my talent.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had a baby in 2021, although I was doing eyelash extensions while I was carrying my child til I was full term. Once I had him is when I had to slow down and be a hands on full time mom. His dad was working a lot to take care of us so I stayed home but it was always hard to get appointments in and still having to tend to my child. My schedule was all over the place so my clientele started to decrease because my schedule wasn’t aligning with my clients schedule. It eventually all came back together for me but I’m grateful for the obstacles along the way. It creates a sense of humbleness.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an eyelash tech, I have been doing eyelash extensions in which I specialize in for 6 years now. What sets me apart from the others? I’m versatile, I can do any style lash and I service any and everyone. I’m very educated on my craft as well knowing the do’s and don’ts. In and out.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’m just blessed to be able to do something that will never go out of style. Lash extensions are time savers. 95% of women wear makeup rather it’s occasionally or even if it’s an everyday thing for them.
