Today we’d like to introduce you to Kali/ Darlena Conner
Kali/ Darlena, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well I started modeling in Colorado, moved to Saint Louis in 2018. I would participate in a lot of Fundraising Fashion Shows in the community. I’ve gain a lot of connections by networking with a lot of Humanitarians here in Saint Louis. I volunteer/worked for Clint Collins who has annual events to help the community such as Pick UP YOUR SONS PUT DOWN THE GUNS/ FATHERS DAY EVENT. I also help with Christmas Angel Tree with the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army have Fashion shows to help raise money for unfortunate children and families for Christmas. Moving forward to the education system here in Saints Louis, I help with events as well assisting my daughter’s teacher at Coldwater Elementary School (Hazelwood School district) I recently join the school coalition where we have virtual meetings discussing how we can better the school district in Saint Louis district.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely was a challenge because I’m currently dealing with a chronic disease. I would be hospitalized for weeks on end yet still participate and willing to help out anyway I can. I have to do weekly treatment in order to function, sometimes my events fall on treatment days making me weak but I still push through and strive.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Fashion, I do Fashion Show nationally through the country. I do help production set up and hosting. I’m most proud of my accomplishments and awards do to me being the top models here in Saint Louis. I was nominated model of the year in 2022, nominated Entrepreneur of the year 2018. Nominated for model of the year two years in row.
What were you like growing up?
I was very dominant strong well,
Encourage others to be the best they can be. Adventures being very daring. Love to help take care of family. Being raised by my Father made me learn to stick up for yourself and other wise things. I was very wise to be that young
