Hi Rochelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Rochelle Clayton, also known as Slim, has led an inspiring journey of pursuing her passions and carving out her own path. Hailing from the North Memphis area of the 38127 zip code, Rochelle was immersed in a world that sparked her creativity and ambition from a young age.
As a model, image consultant, beauty distributor, esthetician, and burgeoning brand, she is the embodiment of a driven, multifaceted woman determined to make her mark. Rochelle’s love for fashion and beauty blossomed around the age of 13, when she became captivated by shows like America’s Next Top Model, Ugly Betty, The Carrie Diaries, and Totally Spies. These programs not only entertained her, but also ignited her understanding that fashion was a powerful form of self-expression.
Slim’s family history further stoked this fire, as she learned of her grandmother’s exceptional talents as a seamstress, hairstylist, and nail artist, and her aunt’s prowess as a gifted fashion designer.
. These family legacies fueled Rochelle’s passion and her desire to carry on their creative legacies. Growing up in a single-parent household, Rochelle faced challenges in pursuing her fashion dreams, as her mother, though supportive, lacked the means and knowledge to fully nurture Rochelle’s burgeoning interests. Rochelle’s journey gradually took shape.
At 21, she began pursuing modeling competitions, using them as a way to test her skills and build confidence. A nice opportunity presented it’s self around 2021, when she connected with a fashion designer who allowed Slim to shadow her in the studio, finally giving her a glimpse of the industry she had long admired.
In 2022, Rochelle launched her own fashion styling company, RoImagary, while simultaneously embarking on a new chapter as an esthetician. Driven by her lifelong love of skincare and helping others feel their best, Rochelle obtained certifications in laser hair removal and aesthetics, opening RoImagary Aesthetics to provide a range of beauty services. Expanding her reach, Rochelle has also started a beauty line, RoImagary Beauty, offering high-quality hair and lash products. As Rochelle continues to grow her multifaceted business ventures, her ultimate goal remains firmly rooted in her first passion – fashion – a dream she is steadfastly pursuing, one step at a time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, my biggest challenges were and still is being a mother throughout my career.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well I am known for being an Esthetician aka skincare therapist. In this field I am currently focusing on becoming a master of eyelash extensions so I can teach classes for future techs. I am also wanting to get deeper in specialty facials. I also identify as a wardrobe stylist. As a wardrobe stylist I specialize in putting custom pieces together for my clients for any event or occasion. I also offer packing services, closet restoration, personal shopping, fashion emergencies within 24-48 hours etc. I offer packages to my clients to make sure I can serve everyone properly. What sets me apart from others is I chat with the client to make sure that they happy are receiving the services that they are paying for. My highest priority is client satisfaction. My proudest accomplishment currently is graduating beauty school, receiving my esthetician license, and moving to another city to expand my network.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have feelings and I am a human being just like you, People think I’m stuck up or lucky but na I get up everyday and work hard at my job and on myself so I can be the best person for myself and others.
