Nicholas, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a product of Church. I am a pastor and a funeral service professional. I wanted to endeavor into entrepreneurship alongside serving others when I thought about my future. During my tenure at the funeral home I noticed many families were searching for an upscale venue to host repast celebrations. My Wife is an event planner and we collaborated ideas to open a fresh and unique venue known as THE JADE EVENT CENTER.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When the Lord impressed upon me to open, I literally had $257 in my account. I had to walk by faith and not by sight because the Lord wanted me to know that he was going to open the doors for me. I had to secure loans as well as max out every piece of credit I had to open. The sacrifices have been enormous. We went through Christmas Holidays without exchanging gifts, barely making it places because we didn’t have gas to fuel the cars, but God has been faithful.

The Jade Event Center was established in 2022. We Are known for delivering “Upscale Events” We are known for our famous “4K Tv wall”. We incorporate top tier graphics, award winning decor design, delicious catering, Professional limousine service, and more to bring harmony to your first class event. What makes us unique is because we were the first venue to include digital graphics to accessorize your events decor. We are the first venue to offer in house professional car service so you can arrive in style! We are a proud African American family owned and operated venue. We deliver each event with every detail imaginable. We are more than an “event space” the Jade offers an “experience”. The Jade event center located at 3411 North Lindbergh Blvd, St. Ann, MO. Specializes in Complete Event Planning for your Wedding, Proposal, Baby Shower, Sweet Sixteen, Family Reunion, Birthday Celebrations, Retirement Party, Church Banquet, Repast Celebration and much more. We offer a spacious facility that accommodates 130 capacity with a spacious courtyard for your outdoor events and brunches. Our in house services include catering, Photo Booth Experiences, Cold spark/ red carpet grand entrances, Videography and Photography services, DJ services, custom cakes and treats, and more . The Jade Event Center is a one stop shop. The Primary Owner is the Reverend Dr. N.L. Grice, Pastor of the Greater Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church Located in Saint Louis, MO. The Co Owner is Mrs. Lakia Vasha Grice, owner of platinum creations & designs. The venue is powered by their children, Nariyah, Niche’, Natalie, Nicholas Jr. & Ivory Grice. As an esteemed spiritual and community leader and activist, Dr. Grice also provides wedding services and pre marital counseling.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The success is first and foremost attributed to God. He is the foundation for our humility and our strength. We are an establishment that when you enter into our doors you will feel comfortable and loved. Whenever we meet with you for an initial counseltation, we will definitely listen to your vision and voice so we can execute it to the very best of our ability. Whenever you call for a repast we always extend our deepest condolences, when you call about a baby shower, we love to ask the gender and how far along as well as a name to refer to your child by name as we welcome them! We aim to please. We love to go over your events details one week prior so that we can make our customers satisfied. When you call us you reach a live person.
