Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelvin Williams
Hi Kelvin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After moving from St. Louis to DC in 2018, I started a new job in a new industry: Tech Education, working with George Washington University’s Public Health Program as an online admissions counselor. After COVID-19 in 2020, I decided to move to Baltimore, which was when Savant Kustoms was born. Initially, I started with a storage box while bored in quarantine, and when I noticed the attention my artwork received on social media, I began expanding into other mediums. Eventually, my footwear took off, and I have been on fire ever since!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not! Financial, familial, and social sacrifices had to be made to fulfill the obligations required to run the brand. The hardest transition was my initial transition from part-time to full-time. I decided to leave a management position and start working in retail to have more time for my business. This was when my car decided it was a good time to break down, and I had no choice other than to ride public transportation 4 hours every day to and from work. Looking back at that and other struggles makes the journey much more fulfilling!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Savant Kustoms is a custom-crafted fashion brand specializing in shoes, home decor, clothing, and other unique products. Throughout this journey, the thing that I have been most proud of are the connections and relationships that I have created with each of my clients. I value every interaction that I have, and the genuine reactions that come from each project that I create! I think my passion, drive, and my faith in God are what set me apart from others within my industry. As a former professional athlete, I use the same motivation that I used to best my opponents to succeed in my current journey.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
