Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Kline
Hi SUSAN, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always been fascinated with photography and started as a child with a Kodak Brownie camera. I still have that camera. I stayed interested as I got older but never got into film developing so I had to depend on sending off my film which was always frustrating. Once the digital age came around, that was a game changer.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think the road is ever smooth. There are always potholes along the way. Sometimes life interferes with what you would like to be doing. Finances can be a huge speed bump. Then, once you start to find the smooth portion of the road, you have to pinpoint which route to take. That can be challenging.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My passion is photography. I love taking photos of whatever it is that strikes my fancy. I have been told that I have a “good eye” but I just shoot what I like. I don’t really know if I have a favorite thing to photograph as I love everything. Whether it be animals, scenery, or even food, though I do especially enjoy taking pictures of the things I see in the sky. From birds, to planes, to the moon. When we had the total solar eclipse this past April, I was thrilled and I was very pleased with how my photos turned out. I don’t use any fancy equipment and I always shoot handheld. I don’t care for tripods and probably wouldn’t have the patience to “set-up” a shot, etc. My business is called Frankie Cat Photography and I use my cat Frankie as my profile photo. Frankie has since passed on but he will always be in my heart.
What’s next?
I don’t really have any set plans for the future. I just plan to keep on doing what I’m doing which is what I enjoy. I play around a bit with editing and graphics and it’s always a treat to learn something new so maybe I could be a bit more open to learning new things.
