Today we’d like to introduce you to Azur Meskovic

Hi Azur , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My family and I fled the war in Bosnia in
1992. Germany allowed immigrants to stay until the war was over which triggered our move to St. Louis, MO in 1997. I started 6th grade at Rogers Middle School in the Affton School District and just one year later, we moved to Ballwin and graduated from Parkway South High in 2004. I went on to graduate from Ranken Technical college with a B.S. Degree in Business Management and started working in the hvac industry.
After 6 years of trades work, I got layed off for an extended period of time so l decided to switch careers and ran across a position that required a Real Estate License so I went and passed the tests but fell short to get the position I had applied for. I got married and was expecting a baby boy in 2010 so out of desperation and out of options, I decided to pursue Residential Real Estate Sales since I already had the license. I worked and trained hard to achieve my first sale and finally after 6 months without any pay and very small unemployment benefits, I signed my first buyer and closed the sale a couple of months later. It took roughly 5 years to really get my business off the ground so in 2015 is when l decided to rebrand and Meskovic Realty Group was born. Since then, I’ve built a team, built an office building from ground up, invested in multiple Real Estate Projects, sold over 750 homes, millions in revenue, and most importantly, have a loving wife with two wonderful kids. We continuously strive to be better people, parents, partners, business owners as well as consistently improving the way the consumer experiences a home sale and purchase.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. In business there is more struggles than triumphs.
Trying to make something out of nothing was very difficult. We constantly faced road blocks whether it was because of our age, names, backgrounds, status, etc. we just couldn’t get ahead and not having any financial resources only made things worse.
We had supportive family around us but they couldn’t help us build a business and make people hire me to sell their home or find them a new one. That was a road I had to travel on my own. Another big hurdle I faced in business is the financial roller coaster and inconsistency in revenue while expenses are consistent. Depending on the business, revenue isn’t always steady especially in the beginning when I had to rely on a sale closing in order to get paid so money management is key in commission based businesses.

As you know, we’re big fans of Meskovic Realty Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The MRG brand (Meskovic Realty Group) was born during the social media climb when most businesses, especially Real Estate, weren’t advertising or using social media for exposure and for profit purposes so therefore this was a major advantage I had over other Real Estate Agents that were still doing business “the way it’s always been done.” I recognized that opportunity because I tried to get my business off the ground the traditional way and it wasn’t working or wasn’t working fast enough anyway so I needed to figure out a better way, a faster way, so I started to engage more on Facebook as that was basically the only big platform we had so as I gained followers I also noticed my sales increasing and that’s when everything changed. I refused to do things the old way from that point on and would only focus on increasing my online presence before everybody in my industry caught on. I got out of my comfort zone, shot videos that were educational and entertaining and did many things that worked and didn’t work and probably made a fool of myself LOL but it all paid off in the end because I know exactly what works and what doesn’t which enables me to do less while gaining the most exposure so my advantage over a lot of other agents is my online presence and what l’m most known for.
While I am very proud of the brand I’ve been able to create, I’m most proud when I am approached by young or even older and experienced business men and women who aspire to achieve things on their own so they look to me for advice, pointers, and guidance. That says everything about what I have accomplished because that tells me that I did it right and I attract positivity in my realm of business and the outreach I have.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People are most surprised when they find out that I grew up in west county. Bosnians are usually associated with living in south city originally and then south county as people bought homes and moved so that part of my story is a bit unusual.
