Today we’d like to introduce you to Perry Jermar
Hi Perry, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I moved to Saint Louis in 2016 and started working in school districts from Normandy, Parkway and SLPS. During that time I was at SLU where I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2019. Three months after graduating my partner and fellow Social Work student, Bryant Antoine and I Co-Founded The Village PATH.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the main struggles that I have had has been figuring out what my personal capacity level is. As someone who has. a family, works full-time and runs a non-profit avoiding burn out can be difficult.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Social Worker by trade. I specialize in providing healing spaces for Black men. One of the things that I take pride in is when people from the community stop me in the streets and ask questions about the work.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories are the times that I got to spend with my grandmother who just passed away recently.
