Hi Katie , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Lindsey and I both had home bakery businesses when we decided to combine our treats and make Vanilla Sugar Bake Shoppe. We often did collabs together so it was a natural transition.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have been very fortunate with a smooth road. We both had an amazing group of clients from our previous businesses that were so excited to support us along this journey. We also choose to open our store front in Webster Groves because the community here is so supportive of their small businesses.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a small batch, from scratch bakery that specializes in custom sugar cookies, custom cookie cakes, a variety of drop cookie flavors and other fun bakery confections. We are known for our amazing chocolate chip cookies and cookie cakes and custom sugars cookies that are not only beautifully decorated but taste amazing.
We are proud to be a female run business. We hope to teach and inspire our kids and others who have a dream to follow it.
What sets us apart from others is the family feel we have with in the shop. We are truly a small family run business. We welcome everyone in the shop with an smile and love getting to know our customers. You’ll often find one of our kids at the shop helping us out. Our husbands help us with the accounting and web support end of the business. We all work together make the shop run smoothly.
What does success mean to you?
I think success is defined in the way you support your community. To be given opportunities to be part of community events big or small makes us proud of what we’ve created.
