Exploring Life & Business with Jennifer Ferry of Enchanted Events STL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Ferry.

Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got started as a princess performer after a choir concert in high school wherein a little girl came up to me after I sang and told me that I looked like Snow White. I decided to apply at Enchanted Events STL and everything just started from there! I worked as a performer for about two years and a manager and performer for a year.

Then when the pandemic hit, our previous owner decided to sell the company. I took ownership of the company on July 1st, 2020, and I’m coming up on my first anniversary as the owner. I couldn’t ask for a better job or a better team of performers, they truly illustrate the talent, beauty, and kindness that is associated with Enchanted Events STL. You can find us at hundreds of birthday parties and all around Saint Louis with corporate clients like the Muny, Stefanina’s Pizza, and the Saint Louis Zoo.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was fortunate to have a pretty smooth transition to this job. I always loved playing dress-up as a kid, and nearly all pictures of me under the age of four are of me in my favorite princess dress! As I got older, I fell in love with music and theater – which when combined with my love of children culminated in the party performance industry being perfect for me! The biggest challenge I’ve faced, other than the COVID-19 pandemic and having to rearrange the way we did parties to keep everyone safe, was really finding the time to run this business and keep it successful. I am a full-time double major student at Washington University in Saint Louis so keeping on top of my busy schedule is a challenge, but it’s so worth it to see those smiling little faces every weekend.

As you know, we’re big fans of Enchanted Events STL. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Enchanted Events STL provides characters of all types for parties and events around the Saint Louis area, though we specialize in providing princesses in luxury costumes for children’s birthday parties. What sets us apart from our competitors is the extremely talented performers we hire. We are the only company in Saint Louis that exclusively hires trained performers with experience in acting, singing, and dancing. I couldn’t be more proud of our talent, they blow me away with each performance! At Enchanted Events STL, we understand in order to embody a fairytale character a performer must be more than skin deep, they have to walk, talk act, and sing like the character they’re portraying. That’s why we are the only company in STL with princesses that sing live, a staple at all of our princess parties! But what brings me the most joy is the kindness of our performers- they consistently and selflessly donate their time and talent to children facing childhood illness in our community. A memory that I will always cherish was when I received a call from the Make A Wish Foundation to do an “emergency wish.” Because of the personal generosity and commitment of our performers, within thirty minutes I had three performers drop everything in their busy schedule. And that’s just one example, I could give many more!

What do you like and dislike about the city?
We have been able to be a part of so many magical memories for members of the Saint Louis community! When I drive through neighborhoods, I can tell stories like, “I did an amazing party here!” as we pass house after house. I’ve met so many amazing families over the last four years, and my favorite thing is when I see families that I’ve met before and they tell me that their child can’t stop talking about when they met one of our performers. One family told me that their daughter watches the video of me singing her Happy Birthday every night before she goes to bed. Knowing that I made an impact on a child that can last months or years is a really special feeling. I also love when we get to see the same families year after year and watch as their kids grow up. The thing I like least about Saint Louis (if I HAVE to choose something) is the traffic. Having bad traffic can really put a damper on a full day of parties!
