Inspiring Conversations with Renee Wasserman of SleepyHead Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Wasserman.

Hi Renee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Los Angeles and moved to St. Louis, MO, almost 12 years ago. I founded SleepyHead Solutions in 2013 after discovering my passion for children’s sleep issues when my oldest daughter (who is now 17 yo) would not sleep through the night. My husband and I would take turns walking up and down the stairs for what felt like hours to get her to fall asleep. After reading countless sleep books by experts in the field and many nights filled with tears (from both me and my daughter!), I successfully trained her (and my younger two daughters) to develop healthy sleep habits. I quickly realized how important sleep was to my girls’ development and behavior. Word got around and I became the go-to sleep guru for my friends and friends of friends, so much so that I was inspired to start my own sleep consulting practice. I completed an extensive sleep-training program covering all aspects of baby and children’s sleep to become a certified infant and child sleep consultant through the Family Sleep Institute.

In 2019, I added to my toolbox by becoming certified as a child behavior consultant. It is my goal to empower parents and provide them with the necessary tools to build foundations that will last a lifetime, to encourage respect and cooperation, and to provide strategies to set clear and respectful boundaries that encourage cooperation and calmness in the home.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a business is always challenging and getting your name out there has probably been the biggest challenge. I feel fortunate that my business is now thriving and known here, as well as beyond the city of Saint Louis.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My reputation for having a warm and non-judgmental personality immediately puts parents at ease. Through custom sleep plans, behavior recaps, 1:1 consultations, ongoing parental support, guest lectures, and group classes, my goal is to empower parents to teach their children to become healthy sleepers and to turn parenting challenges into learning opportunities. I hope to work together with parents to decrease the struggle with their children and increase the cooperation to help make parenting enjoyable and fun.

I love to help parents bring calmness to their homes and teach their children to sleep through the night and take consistent naps each day. I genuinely care about each child’s progress and pride myself in being available to the families I work with each step of the way. Whether it be for parenting, sleep, or both, it is my goal to educate and support them so that they have the tools, strategies, and confidence to be the best parents that they can be and feel good about the process along the way.

I am different than most sleep consultants in that I also bring parenting tools and strategies to the table. When working with toddlers and young children, sleep has lots to do with setting boundaries in a positive and consistent way.
