Rising Stars: Meet Celeste Grayer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Grayer.

Hi Celeste, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a social worker, an artist, a mentor of the youth, an entrepreneur, and an invested human being to my community. To be a social worker and an artist is exciting for me to be able to help children and families and create stunning pieces of artwork. My passion for art and the community reinforce my belief that art transcends all areas of life. I believe the emotion of JOY, LOVE and PAIN help me to create beauty to share. I want youth to be able to feel the love of art in everyday life through food, fashion, self, others, and their community. We must open the minds of our youth again and let them know that we will continue to build a stronger foundation for them to stand on everyday regardless of obstacles.

I want to continue to teach the power of creativity to our youth. I have been fortunate to participate in many projects in the St. Louis area to bring exposure to our youth. I have worked closely with Holidays in the Loop, Mannequins on the Loop, Chalk in the Loop, St. Louis Artist Guild, Shoe Fly, LinkSTL, New Sunny Mount Baptist Church, and St. Louis Public Schools to create an abundant of experiences for youth in the community. To see a child or a group of children in complete nostalgia because they have created or accomplished something is so empowering. I have been able to witness this moment of beauty and I want everyone to have this experience. I view our youth as a partner and want to continue to create beautiful work to share.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I believe in learning and lessons. There will always been new challenges that will come with this journey. I view a challenge as a lesson and this has continued to provide me with so much growth. I also feel I have a responsibility to be a positive representation to the youth as a black woman to expose the right to create on many levels without boundaries.

As a society, we move at such a high velocity that we do not take the time to teach our craft, experience, knowledge or gift to the youth. I want to continue to expose the beauty, grace, passion, love and art of the black community.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The True Trifecta was established in 2017. It all started with a group of kids and now has developed into a love of community, fashion, culture, and art. I started this brand because I wanted to represent the culture with a different style that is beyond the traditional. I realized art, fashion, and community can create an avenue of openness and communality.

My clothing brand is more than just a piece of clothing. It is a connection to something bigger and I hope to continue to grow True Trifecta into a brand that provides an openness for all communities.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I just want to say THANK YOU to the community, colleagues, family, and friends for the continued love and support of me and True Trifecta.
