Today we’d like to introduce you to Keaton Jones.
Hi Keaton, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was 9 years old, I got involved in acting, I mainly did a lot of tv shows and then when I was 12, I got into my first movie role as a lead for a movie called ‘Texas Voodoo Zombies’, so whenever I got to middle school and high school, my main focus was to become an actor. In high school, I ran track and played basketball as well, but nothing really excited me more than theatre arts and learning how to act in plays and movies.
In my junior year of High School, I auditioned for the play ‘The Great Gatsby’, and I got the lead role playing Jay Gatsby. That role changed my life and it actually got me a scholarship to Lindenwood University where I became a BFA acting major. 2 years into college it was fun, but I gave up on Acting and went undecided. During that period of me going undecided, I had taken a class called ‘Video Production’ and I thought I wasn’t going to like it so I slacked off a lot in that class then one day we did an assignment that was called ‘How to make a music video’ and that was when my life changed forever.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a fast upbringing for my career so far, but that is because I took a lot of sacrifices to make this journey happen. Just in general, I have been working overtime and shooting constant videos since I started and doing more traveling to work with artists I’ve always wanted to. One roadblock that did happen on the way was breaking a terabyte drive that contained all my early work. It set me back 2 months behind in music videos, and I had to return a lot of people’s money and reshoot a lot of videos, but after I bounced back, I never and will never stop working.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a music video director out of Dallas, Texas. I mainly specialize in music videos and creative content all around for any type of entertainment. I am mainly known for my work ethic and creativity in directing on videos. I am most proud of the way I speak goals into existence for my career. What sets me apart from others is definitely my work ethic.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Honestly, directing a fire video makes me more happy than anything, or just watching one of my videos over and over again and being proud of what I’ve done in it.
