Today we’d like to introduce you to Debra Corrie. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Debi Corrie is the owner and CEO of Acumaxum, a strategic CFO company dedicated to helping business owners increase cash, maximize profits, scale their businesses. Her journey began in August of 2016 when she decided to become a partner at a strategic CFO company. She ran her own practice and helped business owners with higher level strategy to grow their businesses. By March of 2020 she had built a successful practice, been in 2 best selling books, and ran her own tax practice. When the world shut down in 2020, she saw so many business owners suffering that she decided that she could serve business owners in a new way. She wrote an international best-selling book called “Loving Failure – Getting Control of Your Business Health” dedicated to her grandfather that was a business owner. The book was released on November 10th, 2020. On November 1st, 2020, she founded Acumaxum, a company dedicated to helping business owners build for their future.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Like everyone else, it’s been a lot of hard work and dedication. Like all business owners, our journey has had its ups and downs. The most fun has been building our team. For me, our company culture is the most important thing. We look for people that are happy and enjoy working with the public. We offer team members a 4 day work week, benefits, holidays, PTO and a flexible work schedule. Making sure the team is taken care of first, ensures that we can provide the best customer service to our clients.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a strategy company that focuses on results. We help business owners take the results from their financial statements and use them to see how to accomplish their 3 to 5 year business goals. Our customers tell us that we do numbers with heart. By that I mean that our philosophy is: Behind every number is a person in your company. Numbers should not be the only criteria that business decisions are made. It is important that team members and the business vision align with the owner’s business decisions. Our company helps business owners with financial strategy, accounting back office and tax services to accomplish these goals.
How do you think about luck?
I do not believe in luck. Behind every luck story for a successful business, you will find years of hard work. Putting yourself out into the world to be noticed is what luck is about. For me luck is about creating your vision and doing the things necessary to achieve it. Making decisions and taking action are the most important things to achieve success. Getting stuck in indecision is the quickest way to disengage employees and stop the progress of the business. Some decisions will be successful and others will not. No matter the outcome the most important thing is to learn and grow and move forward. I believe that we each are in charge of our own success.
