Today we’d like to introduce you to Tramon Brown.
Hi Tramon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was little I always saw my future every year when I blew out my birthday candles I wished to be famous. Call me crazy but, I saw myself on stage in front of thousands of people. I started writing songs in the 3rd grade after seeing a Snoop Dog music video I use to wait for it to come on channel 58 the box.
I started performing and doing talent shows all over Saint Louis,MO and that opened the door for more opportunities. I bounced around from being a promoter for Derrty ENT’s new beverage “Pimp Juice” to finally meeting Angie who was managing Jive Records new signee “Huey” at the time. I was privileged with the honor of being around stars when I was still in high school.
I learned a lot from my time around them and was even featured in his video “when I hustle” in 2007 in Atlanta, GA. I got a distribution deal with universal music and started really taking off from there which helped me start my own charity “wowzers 4 kidz”. I attended special school when I was in elementary and I use to get teased a lot and couldn’t wait to prove others wrong.
When I first launch my charity my first mission was to go back to the special needs school I came from Litzsinger in Ladue, MO. I also became an advocate for the Salvation Army and teamed up to “fill the truck” with Wal-Mart and raise money and toys for children in need.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not smooth at all I’ve had some very trying times as an upcoming artist. I’ve learned that some people will just give up on you but, you can’t give up on yourself. A lot of the people that supported me turned on me once I started becoming successful and it blew my mind. It seemed as if everybody wanted a piece of me everything I did had a microscope on it.
The music industry can be very cutthroat and I been in it since I was a child. Sometimes people will give you a hard time but, you must not feed into the negative because it blocks your blessings. I had to sacrifice a lot as a child I rarely got sleep from doing so many shows my teacher would let me sleep in class if I got done in time.
I’ve had to sleep on the side of the road with my manager (Nicole Bradley) while being on the road to promote. I’ve had doors slammed in my face and I just improved myself and came back until they opened. My father who recently passed away use to tell me “if you stay around the barber shop long enough you’ll get a haircut”.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a national recording artist that goes by the stage name “The 80’s Baby” my biggest songs were “Reservations” and “WOWzers” featuring Capitol records recording artist Ebony Eyez. I also have a food service called @MannyDevichos where I sell food and host events.
I also build computers and fix broken electronics but, I’m most proud of my new venture @HealBetter I started in 2021. Heal better was created to help those struggling with mental health and addiction. Me myself has struggled with the same and I have overcame it nothing makes me feel better than seeing people recover.
I’m also a life coach that has been trained and attended plenty of webinars. I think what sets me apart from others is my intentions I actually love what I do my job is fun. I also take pride in having a high level of self control I was born in a homeless shelter I never forgot where I came from.
My father struggled with addiction for years and I was taken from my mom at a young age. She was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1998 and she too recently passed. My father passed away in June she left in July of 2021 and that really boosted my love for helping others.
I took care of both of my parents before their deaths my father was disabled from having a stroke in 1998. My manager taught me to never abandon your family and the other stuff comes second. I want people to know that it’s very important to take your elders to the store it’s very important to spend time with them.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t like gambling but. I was at the casino one time betting small and was winning small. So a light bulb went off and told me if I risk more I’ll win more I implemented that into my businesses as well. When all my friends were buying cars and shoes I was spending thousands of dollars on marketing and promotions.
I’ve had to go without a car because I would invest into myself I get judged alot because I spend my money differently than most. People will leave you for being broke and not seeing the money comes immediately so that is a big risk. My girlfriend dumped me for so-called wasting my money and stay at something that wasn’t paying off immediately.
