Today we’d like to introduce you to MaKaylah Renae’. 

Hi MaKaylah , so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hey! I’m MaKaylah Renae’ a music artist born and raised in St. Louis Missouri! I discovered I could sing after watching and mimicking my grandmother sing her favorite songs at our breakfast table. My grandmother, Alice Prechard had a huge influence on my life and was the sole reason for me pursuing my dream of becoming a professional singer/Artist. I have participated in several choirs and have had the honor to lead worship every Sunday at Grace Bible Church. One Thursday during praise team rehearsal in 2019, our pianist (Pastor Jason Barney) approached me and asked me a simple question that became the catalyst to my future in music. He asked, “How else are you going to use your voice because it’s beautiful”? I stood right in front of him and could not give him an answer. I had never been asked such a question before, but I now realized that others believed that I could use my singing voice in bigger ways than I had been. The question Pastor Barney asked me plagued my mind for weeks until I decided I wanted to become a music artist. I found a local producer (JSH B) 2 weeks later and we recorded my first song ever called “Know”. After realizing I loved the process of making music I then recorded and released my first EP “Renae’ Affair” in 2020 during the COVID – 19 pandemic. The response I received from my friends and family was encouraging and gave me more motivation to continue on with making music. I later created and released another EP “Let Me Be” with my producer (JSH B) in 2021. We again received a great response from friends and family after this release as well. I have been making music for 2.5 years now and I am in love with it! My goal is to do music full-time and make it my career! My process of making music has been wonderful and it’s constantly evolving into bigger and better opportunities. I can’t wait to figure out what’s next for me in this industry! 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a smooth road, especially since I’m an independent artist right now. I have full control of when I release music and what type of music I want to release! It’s also a smooth process because I now have built a music family/team that is constantly supportive. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I originally specialized in creating R&B music but now we are currently changing my music discography to become a praise/ gospel artist. I really don’t like being put in a category so I prefer being considered simply a “music artist”.
