Meet MJ Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to MJ Wilson. Them and their team share their story with us below:

At the tender age of 5 years old born as Myja Rae’ b.k.a (MJ), she stepped into her calling as an entertainer. MJ was the lead “Munchkin” at the JVC Dance Company recital in her hometown Washington D.C. in year 1992. In 1994, she relocated with her immediate family to ATL, GA where she trained in the ARTS.

Such as Jazz, Hip-Hop, theatrical, acting, singing, video creations, studio sessions all between the years 1999-2005 with the help of the Non-Profit organization TASF. 2006 was the start of MJ’s career in the entertainment industry. MJ received her big break as a professional background dancer for former Destiny Child’s member “LeToya Luckett”.

MJ went on doing videos, performing, and touring with more artists such as Sammie, Tiffany Evans, T.I., Kamillion, Mary J. Blige, and more. In 2009, MJ became a BoyMom and while enjoying her newfound love for life she still felt something was missing. The year 2014 is where MJ got back into the arts as the Choreographer for the Meadowcreek H.S. Auxiliary Team. This was the start of MJ’s relaunch into following her dreams and starting new ventures. 2018 MJ stepped into her first entrepreneurial conquest by launching a (One Stop Shop) online boutique called Luckiee13.com. In 2020, MJ created a platform for ALL forms of artists and entrepreneurs such as herself on her YouTube Show called “Moments with MJ”.

MJ talks positively and promos B.O.B’s that she has shopped with on this platform. On the “Moments with MJ” show, she sits down and conducts interviews with fascinating people all over GA. Where they speak about their past accomplishments, future endeavors, current events, and everything in between. MJ also works with independent artists as a creative consultant, host, choreographer, stylist, personal shopper, video direction, studio sessions, photoshoots, artist development, and MORE.

In 2021, MJ joined 105.7 ThePhaze (digital radio) company located in Marrietta, GA as a Host and Interviewer. The “Moments with MJ” show can now be heard every Monday from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm on the 105.7ThePhaze radio app. Tune in and stay tuned to Myja Rae b.k.a MJ because you don’t want to miss Her-story in the making!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles come but do not last always. When I became a professional background dancer I had to struggle with adapting to the “Hollywood Life” Not seeing your family and friends for months, traveling back to back, and more.

You have to be flexible with your schedule for long extensive rehearsals, city-to-city bookings, and last-minute show changes. When you do something you love you don’t sweat the small stuff and you conquer the big stuff. You survive and push forward for the next door that is opening for you. Becoming a new mom and taking care of a person when I only had to take care of myself was a struggle. Stopping what I love doing sacrificing my personal dreams as to not miss out on the joys of being a mom.

Getting back to my personal dreams in entertainment while juggling the workload of being a caring, loving, attentive mother. Pushing through a pandemic as an entrepreneur when the world was shutting down. Losing loved ones very close to you and not being able to call on them for celebrations or hard times.

Starting a new journey in life as a host in a mostly male-dominated industry was a struggle. Making my stamp on this industry and growing every day and every day is a daily struggle. No matter what challenges may come and they will come it WILL not stop what God has for me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I run an online boutique called Luckiee13.com Where you can shop for men, women, matching outfits, cosmetics, pets, and MORE! I specialize in personal shopping and styling. This is done with the boutique as the main source for shopping or local stores in the area. I help independent artists with their look and stage presence with my artist development skills.

Working with many different people and consulting them from photoshoot ideas, to video shoot direction and placement. I am most proud of my integrity, I feel like good begets good. Karma is very much real and whatever you put out you will receive back. With this, I always ensure I put my best foot forward in all I do. My aura, personality, and vitiligo set me apart from others.

I’ve been told that a person was having a really crappy day and just with me entering the room with my lively energy and good vibes changed how they were feeling inside for most of their day. I love being able to put beauty and positivity into people because I feel that’s what they provide to me. There is NO ONE exactly like me and I’m proud to be what others aren’t… different!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Get out there and get to meet some amazing people. It’s very easy to promote yourself nowadays and this can be done anytime anywhere. I recommend doing research for your particular field and joining any events or groups connected to your field. Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself and be your biggest ambassador because if you do not take it seriously no one else will.

Find some like-minded people and pick their brains on ideas while sharing ideas with new people and old. Staying connected to people in my same industry has helped me connect with more people and the business plus myself has grown.
