Rising Stars: Meet Brittany Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Williams.

Hi Brittany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up extremely poor in some of the worst parts of Saint Louis City. I moved around, from house to house and never having a stable home. Growing up, I suffered with low self-esteem & depression due to past childhood trauma from being raped/molested & neglected by both of my parents.

At the age of 15, I had my 1st child, shortly after my daughter and I were both homeless. I lost everything we owned in a house fire. By this time I hated life. I was a miserable teenager who had no hope but I loved my baby even with a broken heart & spirit. I’ve always been good with my hands & had a passion for fashion, hair & makeup. I would try to recreate different looks I would see in magazines from donations that would come in from the shelter. I styled my own hair since I couldn’t afford a hairstylist or designer clothes.

In 2009, I graduated from Vashon High School with my daughter on my hip. A few years later I enrolled in night school at National Academy Beauty Arts. I graduated from NABA in 2013. Right before graduation, I hit a rough patch financially that put me at rock bottom. It was hard not being able to afford nice things again. I felt terrible on the inside. One of my biggest dreams has always been to help people feel their best about themselves rather it’s through fashion, hair or make-up.

Years later when I had a little money saved up, I decided to invest money into myself and started my business All The Way Glam. All The Way Glam strives to make beauty affordable to all households. When you look your best you feel your best. I also understand that sometimes even though you look good you can still feel horrible on the inside. So now I’m also a motivational speaker who helps men & women overcome their fears, past trauma & shame. Looking good isn’t enough but being Fabulous from within is & “Everyone deserves the right to look Fabulous”!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I don’t have a mentor so I’m learning everything as I go through research, trial & error. Covid19 really set me back a lot financially. I lost everything with Covid19.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in Fashion, Hair & Makeup. I would consider the beauty industry to be my talent. I’m mostly known for my fashion videos. However, my passion is helping people & motivating them to overcome life’s hurdles. My proudest moments are being able to speak at the shelter I used to live in and having my products featured in a local fashion show. If can make it out, so can you. I believe that this is what sets me apart from other influencers. Everything I talk about I’ve been through which makes me relatable. I understand what it’s like to feel ugly, homeless, worthless & etc. At one point in time, I was just like you.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by doing what you love & what you’re most passionate about. Success is not about money, money is just a bonus. Success is about what you can give to the world rather than take from it.
