Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay Jay.
Hi Kay, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started doing music when I was 7 years old. Me and a friend of mine had a group called “2Famous” when we were growing up, and we started to gain attention when we put out a song called “First Love”. I later became a solo act and started traveling, making Music Videos all around the United States and making music in multiple Big Name studios.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t easy. I found myself on probation from the time I was 17 till I was 22. That was really the hardest time for me trying to juggle being a teenager in high school, doing music, performing and having a probation officer. I knew if I could get to Atlanta I could focus on music more but I couldn’t leave the state of Missouri at that time due to my circumstances.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist from “NMw” which stands for No More Worries music group. The type of music I put out is all based off the things I’ve been through growing up and the things I’m achieving now. Seeing how much I’ve grown with my music is the most exciting thing for me I go back and watch videos from when I was a kid with a binder rapping at the park to looking at the stuff I do now and the places I’ve been in the past few years . I think what sets me apart from other artists is the fact that I still believe in making mainstream music with cinematic videos that tell stories.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family does music so I wouldn’t be doing this without them. But music industry wise I have to say @Realwoosie ( Videographer) definitely has had my back since the start, my engineer down in Atlanta has gave me some game even tied me in with artists, and last but not least Hypno Carlito from OTF ( Lil Durks Label ) has giving me game on which way to go and the things to do with my music.
