Today we’d like to introduce you to the Think Yourself Happy Event.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Tia: June 2019 was a very exciting month for me because I officially started something I’d always enjoyed; my event planning business. I remember reading The Bible & picking out these words from the text, “Think Yourself Happy” (Acts 26:2) & offering up my idea to start this business to Him & from there, we took off!!
We got booked for a lot of parties, memorials, weddings/receptions, worked various beautiful events, expanded the team, hosted events, etc. The highlight was joining with my sister (and now partner, Janessia) & becoming a bestie-sister duo! She was always a helping hand & great at what she does so it made a lot of sense! It’s been a great journey— during the pandemic we had to pivot & added photography which has been a blessing!
Janessia: I have always loved events, whether that was attending events or helping to plan them. Growing up, I frequently helped my mother with the planning business she had called “Thoughtful Things Events”. Since then the seed of planning and organizing was forever planted into my being. Event planning was always a hobby for me because it was something I enjoyed doing and brought me so much joy. Around 2019 when TYH was started by my best friend, I would assist in events if she needed help, etc.
After a while, Tia and I decided to partner with each other putting our skills and expertise together to make a strong team. That was about three years ago and we have been going strong since then. We look forward to new experiences as we continue to grow and develop as a business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We are a fairly young business, and when COVID hit we definitely felt it like the rest of the world. No one was having events or gatherings the normal way anymore, especially in 2020, so it called for creative solutions.
We took a break from our business in 2020, then came back slowly in 2021. We pivoted our approach from sole event planning to add photography which was a beneficial move. For a while, we were only booking photography sessions as we started gaining more clientele.
As the battle against COVID continues, we are determined to continue moving forward, expanding our skills, business, and reach to make ourselves known.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We do not believe in luck, but believe we are blessed! We are blessed to have come this far and it is only by the grace of God. We are firm believers in Jesus and know that without Him we are not able to do anything. No matter where we go from here, we know that we want to follow the will of God in all that we do!
We’ve also been blessed with supportive family and friends who keep us working. Some of our most recent clients have come from marketing through our social media and word of mouth from previous clients. We absolutely love event planning and don’t plan on stopping here. Our hope is to help our clients, Think Themselves Happy throughout the planning process!
