Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Givens.
Hi Meagan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
We officially started M. Interiors in June 2016.
My husband, Jamie, was a realtor at the time and through his connections and a group of fabulous realtors who trusted my abilities (for whom I will be forever grateful), I was given the opportunity to stage a few homes. I’ve always loved interior design and decor, but staging homes is about 20% interior decorating and 80% logistics. I honestly had no idea what I was doing.
When we first started out, Jamie and I moved all the furniture and decor ourselves. We loaded it Tetris-style in his Tacoma and lugged it from house to house. It was exhausting, but we couldn’t afford to hire help quite yet. Through trial and error, we were able to fine-tune the process and slowly acquire a substantial staging inventory.
By that fall, I was able to quit my full-time job to focus on M. Interiors and by the following year, we were able to begin hiring movers and other staff. The rest is history, or so they say!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve had many struggles along the way! I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a small business that hasn’t!
The biggest struggle for me personally has been starting and running a business while simultaneously starting a family. The same year M. interiors were born I gave birth to our first son. He was a few months old when I staged my first house. We are now fortunate enough to have three beautiful boys!
But we’ve never been able to focus solely on growing the business because we’ve always been knee-deep in the early parenting years as well. Although juggling it all has been challenging, it is probably a blessing in disguise. I don’t think I would have been as motivated to succeed without our little ones counting on us.

M. Interiors is a small, locally owned business specializing in home staging while also offering a range of interior design services. We are based in the lovely Southampton neighborhood and service the entire city of St. Louis and surrounding areas.
We offer a modern, approachable take on home staging. Our goal is to showcase the best features of every home we stage while helping potential buyers connect to the space from the minute they walk through the front door.
Our inventory can be tailored to a variety of home styles and price points while never sacrificing style. Our team takes great pride in tailoring our process to elevate each home. We love the decor and interior design and are always researching trends and sourcing inventory to consistently deliver the aesthetic our reputation is based on!
How do you define success?
I define our success by the happiness of our clients. We are fortunate to work with the most amazing people! From our beloved realtors to our design clients, the support and encouragement we receive from them is the best form of payment. Their reactions to the spaces we’ll create are always our favorite part of the job!
