Today we’d like to introduce you to Denesha Cuneo.
Denesha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is a Denesha Cuneo. I go by Dee for short. I am a Registered Nurse and Independent Travel Agent. I am the owner of Nexus Jet Setter LLC. I am originally from Virginia, and I graduated from the University of North Alabama with a BSN. After graduation, I began my career in Neurosurgery and transitioned to Dialysis. Prior to going to nursing school, I always wanted to run and operate my own business where I could help and pour life into people. I built Nexus Jet Setter LLC as a part-time business while I was still working full-time as a dialysis nurse. Shortly after having my daughter M’Kaylee in August of 2021, I knew it was time for change. As a nurse, I faced what many other nurses do at some point and that was burnout. I had a passion for helping people and I didn’t want to lose that light and become jaded. So, I walked out on faith, resigned from my nursing position, and put all of my energy into what was bringing me joy. Travel.
Travel means more to me than just luxury vacations and pictures. It’s about the experiences. My love language has always been quality time. Travel gives me the opportunity to make memories and unforgettable moments with those that I love. That saying “if you love what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life” still rings true for me. Travel is dear to my heart and I get to share that will every person I am blessed to come in contact with. Whether I’m planning your anniversary, family reunion, or wedding, I think about all the smaller details that make the occasion memorable. The things you will remember about your trip years from now. When you let me take care in your travel needs, I am there from beginning to end and then some! I remember birthdays, anniversaries, crossing anniversaries, and more. No moment in someone’s life is too small to be celebrated and I believe that level of care is what sets me apart from every other travel agent.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say the road has been smooth, but I also wouldn’t go back and change anything that has happened. Growing up day to day life was difficult. I dealt with the hardships of a family member who suffers with substance abuse and mental illness. Once I was able to unshackle myself from that environment and move away to college, I faced anxiety and depression. I had an amazing support system between my sister who is my mother figure, my dad, and my now-husband. I was blessed to have a safe place amongst them and got the help and therapy I needed. Today, I am stronger for it. Today I can break generational curses and show my daughter that her mother beat the odds, despite not having the best hand in cards. If I hadn’t gone through what I went through, that one person out there that needs to hear my story to believe that they too can make it through, might not come to be. Because of my history, I am a 26-year-old entrepreneur, a patient mother, a loving wife, and more.
