Meet Maddie Raineri of The Modern Social Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddie Raineri.

Hi Maddie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Becoming an entrepreneur is in my blood. As the granddaughter of an entrepreneur who founded a thriving local construction company, being my boss was never a question of if but when. For years now, I have nurtured the idea of starting my own company and finding the freedom to make work a facet of my life rather than my entire personality. As a fresh college graduate three years ago, I started my professional journey working in the advertising industry in St. Louis. After working with brands like STLMade, Lion’s Choice, and MLS4TheLou, now stlCITYsc, I discovered my talent and my passion for digital marketing. Through the pandemic, I found more and more about myself and fostered the idea of becoming a one-woman digital marketing agency. Thus, The Modern Social Co. was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I finally committed to leaving the stability of a full-time job, ironically, the pieces fell into place. But, I won’t say that it has been all smooth sailing. The fear of failure, anxiety, and level of commitment it requires to discover so many things about business owners have been a challenge in and of themselves, but one that I would instead take on than stay in a career I lost passion for.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Modern Social Co.?
The Modern Social Co. was explicitly founded to provide other small businesses, entrepreneurs, and creators with the resources to make their social media stand out without making it a part-time job. While the primary focus is on social consultation, we also offer digital marketing services like social media management, website creation, brand building, and paid media buys. The goal is to use The Modern Social Co. to disrupt how current advertising uses an ‘always-on’ approach to business. Using personable, down-to-earth branding, we strive to feel familiar when many facets of the advertising industry are overwhelming and highly technical, making it difficult for non-professionals to understand what they do and don’t need.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Growing up, I lived in a small neighborhood with only 12 houses. One of those houses included my cousins, and my parents had a pool. The neighborhood kids would spend all day swimming and play outside, and at night when the parents gathered to barbecue and hang out, we would play capture the flag throughout the neighborhood. We would come home late, barefoot, covered in a slick of sweat, to eat popsicles next to the pool and catch lightning bugs in the yard. It wasn’t a special memory, but the overall energy of those nights that I loved so much.
