Today we’d like to introduce you to Bettye Nicole Williams.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
In June 2015, my daughter passed away unexpectedly at four months of SIDS. I had just graduated college and was looking forward to starting my new career. After she passed, I took a step away from working and began to dig deeper into finding my purpose in life. As a Christian, I knew God had a plan for me, but I wasn’t sure what it entailed. A few months after her passing, my husband and I started a Non-profit organization (Bailey’s Dash), and I began to write, travel, and speak to families who experienced grief. Years later, I began to cultivate my love for helping inner city individuals establish their businesses and plan to start the journey to entrepreneurship. I found this rewarding, so I established “Oath Of Nicole” Business Consultants. I have established businesses all over the United States.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all, I believe most entrepreneurs don’t share their failures as much as they should, and I think that I have learned more from my mistakes than a smooth road could ever teach me. It can be a struggle to stay motivated when you are discouraged because of other life events. For me, I struggled with fear. Because my daughter passed at a time when I thought my career in the Corporate world would take off, I’d be afraid of success. When things would pick up for me, looming in my thoughts would be, “I hope something difficult isn’t going to enter my life again.” That fear, in some moments, would get the best of me, and I retreat into hiding, ultimately hindering my business. Thank God this is no longer a thing for me, but daily it is a struggle to remain consistent.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
That there is always hope! We will fail and experience losses, but when you get up, dust yourself off and keep moving forward, greater is always ahead. I also understand the importance of staying in your lane and running your race. In our culture, it’s almost as if pressure is coming from every angle to gain validation from folks on Social Media. I will digress, as this is a subject within itself, lol. If you work hard in private and cultivate a life of integrity and honesty, over time, I believe your work will speak for itself. I believe God will always bless a life groomed in integrity; this has been my biggest lesson.
