Meet Rick Duree of BeerSauce Shop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Duree.

Hi Rick, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We signed the first lease to launch this tasting and flavor room six years ago to see if the craft community would love what we thought was a great experiential retail model. Happy for us; it took off! From the beginning, we co-founders, Andrew “The Beer Guy” and Rick “The Sauce Guy,” wanted to build a franchise and take this flavor room across the country, and that’s what we’re doing with 7 Shops open in 2022.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
We quickly realized that we had something unique and fun on our hands with BeerSauce Shop, but it could have been better. We improved customer-focused pricing, added a full BBQ menu, did many craft beer collaborations with local breweries, and got several craft whiskey barrels to pick partnerships. In the end, more was the mantra.

We’ve been impressed with BeerSauce Shop, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are pushing to franchise across the country, with our first non-Missouri location opening in Nov ’22 in Bradenton, FL, just south of Tampa. Our goal is to bring craft flavor to hungry/thirsty communities across the country. We have 500+ craft beers and 200+ artisan sauces/rubs that lead the way in our product mix. What also brings people in the door in our weekly Flavor Schools Beer School, BBQ School, and Whiskey School; our community wins with these free events as they taste new flavors and learn the history and culture behind them, such as beer/whiskey lore and terminology they may not know.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We collaborate in every aspect of our business. Local BBQ competition teams provide our BBQ, the majority of our craft brews are local, and we try to have several house brews per year made with our local brewery partners. Barrel picks from local distilleries are common, and we visit all the farmer’s markets in search of new creative sauce and rub flavors that, when we find them, we offer those local mom & pop producers to sell in our Shops.
