Meet Willie & Ericka Logan of Logan & Logan Mgmt & Acctg Svcs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie and Ericka Logan.

Hi Willie & Ericka, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Logan & Logan journey to entrepreneurship started back in 2018 when we first started our business. However, our dream of that business started in 2008 when we both graduate from McKendree University with our BBA in Accounting.  We then went on at that same school to get our Master’s degree. Initially when we started the business, we were preparing family taxes at our home. Our office was literally our kitchen table. At the end of 2019, our clientele began to expand so we made the decision to rent a small office space ahead of the next tax season. We signed our lease in January 2020 and had our grand opening in March. Well, by now, everyone knows what happened in March 2020. COVID temporary shut us down. We had our grand opening March 13th and that next week we had to shut down. At that moment, we knew we had to pivot and keep on moving the best way we knew how. We started offering virtual appointments to meet the needs of our clients and to make sure everyone was safe. After the year ended, we started looking for a permanent location. God really showed favor on us and our business. We closed on our permanent location in July 2021. To think back from our start in 2018, in our kitchen preparing family taxes, now we have our own location and we have expanded our services to not only include taxes but also include bookkeeping, accounting and notary services. We also rent out office and cubicle space.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
If the road is too smooth, you’re not rising to your full potential. It’s okay to ride the wave sometimes but know when it’s time to realign your goals. Everyone has struggles in their business, it’s up to you on how you overcome them. With us, we had to pivot differently to better service our clients. It was hard at the beginning, but our pivot presented opportunities for growth with ourselves, clientele and community. We started offering more virtual and drop off appointments to efficiently handle our growth. Since then, we have doubled our business and expanded our network. We became members with the Greater Belleville Chambers of Commerce, and we partner with Small Business Development Center for the Metro East.

n & Logan Mgmt & Acctg Svcs, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?Logan & Logan Management & Accounting Services is a small business with big dreams. We’ve been in business now for 4.5 years. We offer bookkeeping, accounting, tax preparation and notary services. As a tax provider in the area, we strive to give our customers a great experience by not only providing tax services but also giving them an understanding of their taxes. We are committed to giving our clients the best support to ensure success in their business and personal finances. We’re always looking for ways to make a better impact in our community through volunteering and hosting annual back to school giveaways. We were also featured in St Louis Small Business Monthly as Southern Illinois People To Know and was awarded the Business Excellence Award. We take pride in what we do and are appreciative and honored for others noticing our hard work and efforts to better service the community.

Any big plans?
Growth is always the plan! Our hope is that we continue to grow so we can eventually hire full and part time employees.
