Check Out Ben Link’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Link.

Hi Ben, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Dawson, Missouri, is a small town where we spent several formative years, so the idea behind the name is no matter where we go or what we do, we want to remember where we came from and what’s important. Dawson Hollow is comprised of 5 siblings. We all cut our teeth making music at young ages playing cover gigs (mostly traditional folk and bluegrass music). As we grew into our teens and late 20s, we started listening to more types of music (such as The Beatles, Beach Boys, Eagles, and whatever else alternative music was going around at the time, Bon Iver, Avett Brothers, Foster The People, etc.). We started writing our music, and that’s when DH was born. We are currently working on our 3rd studio album.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s a challenging type of career. Building a brand/band from the ground up takes time and a lot of hard work. We love what we do, so yes, there are a lot of challenges, whether it be sharing a van with 6 people, breaking into a new market, or simply being on tour away from your family for long periods. We believe in these songs and want to share them with people who will enjoy them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One of the many things I(Ben) get to do within the band is to create/build our shows. When I draft a setlist/song list for any night, it’s not an arbitrary batch of songs strung together. There’s a process, flow, and even a formula to making a night with an audience in each city a unique, worthwhile experience. When people pay for a ticket to spend an evening with us, we don’t take it lightly. We want to give them the best we’ve got.

Before we go, can you talk to us about how people can work, collaborate, or support you?
Collaboration can look a lot of different ways. One of the best things is to spread the word. Let people know about us; we’ll likely play a city near you. Support can look anything from listening to our music, coming to shows, following us on socials, or joining us on Patreon. Some of our favorites are art collectibles, songwriting collectibles, and brand collabs.
