Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Eschmann.
Hi Claire, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
Creations by Claire XOXO began back in my childhood. I have always loved creating usable, practical items- hats, boxes, purses, clothing, scarves, bookcases; you name it. I tried to make it, build it, or fix it! As an adult and as a Nurse, I’ve learned that most people long for and need comfort. Entering the world, babies and children crave warmth and reassurance. During sickness, people desire a gentle, comforting touch. In adulthood and beyond, we search for contentment and peace. Each part of life needs comfort. This need is what gave me the foundations for the products I make. Now as a stay-at-home Mom of three kids, I am back to my passion for creation! Creation of comfort items for every stage from newborn to adulthood and everything in between.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most things, this endeavor has been a little hard and a little easy. Crafting items is one of my self-care activities, so it comes naturally and is fun! However, the business side of selling is a whole new world! My husband has been so helpful in walking me through the basics of business and marketing. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing without him.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My primary line of products is chunky knit blankets. I offer custom colors and sizes, from baby blankets to queen bed comforters. I also make knit throw pillows, knit & crochet seasonal items, and some macrame pieces! I also run various year-long donations and fundraisers: baby blankets, collections of food and supplies for the homeless, and blankets for the homeless and those in transitional housing. The one that means the most to me is “Blankets for the Babies.” I was primarily a postpartum nurse when I was a nurse working in the hospital. Working with Moms that have experienced loss left a mark. Child loss, infant death, miscarriage, and pregnancy loss are wounds that never fully heal but need lots of love. I collect funds to make baby blankets for local moms experiencing loss, hoping that the blanket can serve as a comforting physical reminder of that broken bond.
Please talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy.
My kids are my life; seeing life from their perspective is better than anything I could ask for. What would be even better if my kids would craft with me?
