Conversations with Maureen Daley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maureen Daley.

Maureen Daley

Hi Maureen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello and thanks for having me! My design journey began after graduating from Webster University in 2004, diving into the world of graphic design. I got my feet wet by working at a local design firm in Webster Groves, MO, under an awesome mentor. His passion, eagle-eyed attention, and encouragement shaped my design style, and I’m forever thankful for those lessons.

In 2009, Daley Design was born. My vision was clear: offer top-tier design without the hefty agency price tag. As the Creative Director, I love partnering with small and medium-sized businesses, helping them build their brands. We’re all about supporting women-owned and locally-owned businesses. Collaborating with inspiring entrepreneurs like Erin Joy, Carrie’s Merries, and Christine’s Salsa is a thrill. Crafting unique brand identities that empower businesses is what we’re all about.

I’m lucky to be able to work with my partner and husband, Jeff Iqbal who is a WordPress guru, and together, I feel like we are a dynamic duo that takes projects from start to finish.

Beyond work, I love St. Louis and its culture. The local business buzz, especially in food, feeds my creativity. The way entrepreneurs support each other here is pure inspiration, fostering growth and innovation.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Reflecting on our journey, it’s clear that it hasn’t been a breeze. We started in 2009, during a tough economic phase, which taught us to be adaptable and seize opportunities. Staying tech-savvy has been essential, especially with the rise of social media and other online platforms. Innovation has been our fuel – pushing us to deliver creative solutions that truly resonate with clients. In a nutshell, it’s been a road of challenges turned into learning experiences, driving us to constantly evolve and offer top-notch services.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Right now, we’re working on some exciting projects. We’ve got a lot on our plate, from designing and building unique WordPress websites and brand development. In fact, we recently completed branding for Christine’s Salsa and Carrie’s Merries Bloody Mary Mix – two consumer brands that are both fun and vibrant. You should check them out! It’s been fun bringing their uniqueness to life through design.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Yes! A memorable one that comes to mind is a train trip my family took, from St. Louis to the Pacific Northwest. It was a two-week trip before modern handheld devices, we had to rely on mixed tapes and the landscape to keep us occupied. We had many fun stops along the way, like exploring the White Sands in New Mexico, a tour of Alcatraz on a cold and windy day, and killer whale watching on the Puget Sound. It was an amazing experience.
