Today we’d like to introduce you to Elysse Price.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
My name is Elysse Price; I am 24 and was born and raised on the north side of St. Louis. I am the second oldest of six children from my mother, with 8 siblings. I am a proud alumna of the illustrious Howard University. I received my bachelor’s in Media, Film, and Journalism with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Photography. I’ve always been a gifted writer; I performed and competed in spoken word competitions during high school. My love for reading, writing, and films is what made me pursue the arts as an undergrad. I had to support myself through Howard, where I learned how to hustle. I would sell pastries for $1 in my dorm after my shift at my job. I was a football manager for Howard and a photographer for iconic images. I began freelancing with photography/ videography during my sophomore year and did headshots, graduation photos, birthdays, events, etc. I decided to run another business during my senior year to generate extra income. I founded my candle business, Priceless Palace, a luxury soy candle business, in January 2022. Along with my two businesses, I am a content creator and lover of digital media and storytelling.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The road has been everything but smooth. I went through a series of unfortunate events throughout my life, but with every obstacle, I learned resilience and what it truly means to persevere. Several times in my life, I have been stripped of everything to propel me forward. I thrive when confronted with adversity. I posted several gofundme, worked multiple jobs, and battled severe depression and anxiety. Through the adversity, I learned to value mental health, and I’m currently walking through my healing journey.

Priceless Palace is a luxury candle business. All of our candles are 100% soy and toxin-free. We specialize in soy candles made of wooden wicks. We are known for the affirmations on each candle; we create unique campaigns with each collection. I am proud of the growth I have seen with each collection, from social media to our traffic website and the storytelling behind each campaign.
Priceless Photography is my photography and videography business. I specialize in portraits, graduation photos, events, etc. What sets me apart from other businesses is the experience I offer. I make my clients feel as comfortable as possible. I create Pinterest boards for the shoot, even for people uncomfortable in front of the camera. I give great creative direction and play music during my shoots. I am proud of my growth as a photographer; I constantly strive to be a student of my craft and find new ways to set myself apart.
