Today we’d like to introduce you to Andria Van Mierlo.
Hi, Andria. I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story? How did you get to where you are today?
I have been in the fitness industry since college. I was a personal trainer through college and began working out in high school to prepare myself for the police academy. After becoming a police officer, I continued to train others and help them with nutrition. 2011, I began teaching small group fitness classes under our business, Bluelinene Fitness STL. In 2021, we re-branded ourselves as VM Fitline, and in 2022, I left my 20-year career with the police department to run VM Fitline full-time. Fitness has been a passion of mine throughout my life and my police career. I love helping others meet their fitness goals.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The transition from a full-time police job as a Supervisor in Special Operations to running a home-based business has been different but smooth! I have a full client load, and the business is growing. I still miss some elements of police work, but I know I am where I am meant to be.
I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about VM Fitline?
VM Fitline is my personal training business. I work with all ages and abilities, from 7 years old to 70! I teach *small group and youth fitness classes and offer 1:1 and 2:1 personal training. I also am a nutritional coach and offer training to clients who can’t meet in person via our fitness app. Via our app, individuals can access and log a wide variety of 12-week to 6-month training plans and log every aspect of their progress, from the reps they do to the weights they use to progress pictures, meals, and measurements. We are known for our ability to help with a wide range of fitness goals. We have helped our clients pass PT tests for police and firefighter jobs, run marathons, lose weight, do body shows, and become healthier. We are different from typical box gym trainers because of our experience -over 40 years combined! We are also unique in that we offer a wide range of training. We have programs for muscle building, fat loss, endurance, and military and first responder academy readiness. We teach circuit-style weightlifting classes and a fun strength/boxing class on Saturdays. Additionally, under experience, my husband and I have completed a wide range of fitness-related endeavors, which helps us help our clients! We have done everything from ultra-marathons, body-building shows, and triathlons to hiking the entire Grand Canyon Rim to Rim in one day! Our one-of-a-kind experience sets us apart. I also love that VM Fitline serves such a wide range of clientele. We help youth athletes become stronger and faster and help our client with cerebral palsy live more independently by helping her become stronger so she can undertake daily tasks more easily. Readers can learn more about us by visiting our website, vmfitline.com, or following us on Instagram @vm.fitline.
Let’s end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
Building confidence in my clients is most important to me—teaching them they can. So many times, people fail in their fitness journeys or fail even to get started simply because they think they need it in them to follow through. We love showing our clients near and far that they can do so much more! We teach them the mental and physical skills they need to make health a lifestyle and to be successful!
