Hi Shanicee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello, I’m Shanicee Stewart, and I know how I got started with a dollar and a dream. I was working in retail management and wanted to know how I could earn extra money because living paycheck to paycheck wasn’t working at the time for me & my son. A light bulb clicked in my head about selling frames, not just any. Deevahframes typically, women who wear sunglasses are ( diva ) very stylish and jazzy, and with the following and style I had, I knew it would be a success. I have been selling them ever since 2018.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a challenging road. I struggle daily with the economy and being my promoter on social platforms because it is an online business, and I don’t have a storefront. Still, my brand ambassador, my big sister Marnice Stewart, has been a big help, and let’s not forget about my mom. She is always there supporting me at pop-up shops and events.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for being the Deevah of the family. That’s how I came up with the name Deevahframes. I love fashion. I love shopping, and I truly love people; I’m a mom of 2 and have a passion for making people feel good about themselves. I’m the most proud of my strength to keep going; I have been through a lot. I almost lost my life in 2016 while leaving a concert and had to learn to walk again, so my strength is what carries me; let me know never to give up and keep pushing no matter what; what sets me apart from others is no one is me, that’s my power, God made only one me, no one can take that.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share?
I learned COVID-19 was the perfect time to make money and start a business through the social media. I have seen many people prosper in their businesses because of COVID.
