Today we’d like to introduce you to Za’Riah Hudson.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
My name is Zariah Hudson. I go by Ms. Extra. I started dancing at age 3. I joined a dance agency called Point of Surrender at age 5. My momma always said I had too much personality, so I knew I was meant to be a star. At about age 7, I started modeling and rapping at a kid club called Doll Squad for about 2 and a half years. Then I left there, became a solo rapper, and made my most well-known song, Spoil Alert, featuring my big sister Riley. That was the first song I wrote by myself with the help of my biggest supporter(mom). I also own a press online called xtrapressedfactory that will relaunched this summer. I am taking over my mom’s dessert business and making mom, so now I sell candy grapes—cupcakes, etc. My newest project is my song called Big Steppa. I worked for months on that song; it’s my favorite.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the struggles I faced along the way was time management. I do after-school activities as well, such as acting and track. Sometimes, I go straight from school right to the studio. But somehow, I get through it. I tell myself that hard work pays off.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most known for my extra personality. That’s how I got the name. You say I will be doing the most. I am most proud of being able to go in front of crowds and shine super bright. What sets me apart from others is I can’t be stopped. I’m dedicated and devoted to my position in the industry. I practice every day. I make sure I know that I demand the attention of any room I walk in because, in the end, I’m a big stepper.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from growing up.
My favorite childhood memory was when my baby sister Za’Renity was born. She made me brave because one thing I don’t play about is my sisters. They are my world. As the big sister, I know I have to teach her to be strong and not let anybody stop me.
