Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Ketterer
Hi Sara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career right out of college at a large catering company. After 7 years of marketing in the hospitality industry, I was ready to try something new and began freelancing. Marketing for small businesses throughout St. Louis taught me about various sectors. This knowledge helped tremendously when my partner at the time and I started a family with the birth of our son and also a startup developing automated training systems to teach dogs to detect cancer in humans. I worked in that business for 3 long, grueling years. Although we couldn’t commercialize the technology, I am incredibly grateful for the time I spent researching and developing the technology and my business-building skills.
During my post-college years, I always had this nagging spark in my mind that I should be sharing the knowledge and skills I was developing as I continued on my not-so-average career journey. I’ve always been a good communicator, but those skills were sharpened and honed while working on the startup. After many meetings with venture capital groups and other potential investors, it became clear that I truly excelled at explaining concepts that were difficult to understand in a way that was easy to digest and understand.
Once I realized my skills were being underutilized and I would be happier and more successful marketing myself instead of other businesses, I made the nerve-racking decision to invest in myself and start a career as a marketing consultant and online content creator, sharing what I’ve learned over the years. Although I’ve only been doing it officially since March of 2024, I have seen tremendous growth and support from my new community and am very excited to see where this takes me.
I’m enjoying the freedom this new career has provided me and the creative outlet to pursue my passions. I’m not only able to spend time with my son while simultaneously creating content for my followers, but I also have the freedom to pursue one of my other passions, inventing new products to make life easier and more enjoyable. I’m working on prototypes for 2 very cool new product lines that I will debut by early next year.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t been without its bumps. Embracing a positive mindset, I find value in every challenge, believing every step, even the backward ones, has contributed to where I am today.
One of my significant challenges was navigating the end of my romantic relationship with my son’s father. Transitioning from partners to friends wasn’t smooth and required a lot of emotional resilience. Despite the struggles, this phase taught me much about my ability to adapt, shaping who I’ve become.
Deciding to become an online content creator was met with skepticism from many around me. I was often advised to pursue a “regular” job and put aside what some saw as a whimsical endeavor. But, after thorough research and soul-searching, I realized that this path was truly meant for me. The initial stages were particularly tough—filming, editing, and uploading my first video, only to see minimal engagement. It was disheartening to pour so much of myself into projects that initially seemed unnoticed.
However, persistence paid off. I continued to share my content, and after a few persistent weeks, I started to gain traction. This was the validation I needed to confirm I had made the right decision. Each small win has been a step towards realizing my goals, and these experiences have fortified my commitment to this new chapter of my life.

I am a creator and communicator, channeling my experiences and insights into content that resonates with those navigating the complexities of parenting, personal growth, and DIY home projects. My specialization lies in making complex ideas accessible and relatable, a skill honed through my diverse professional background, from marketing in the hospitality industry to co-founding a tech startup aimed at training dogs to detect cancer. These experiences have endowed me with a unique perspective that I bring to my current role as an online content creator and marketing consultant.
What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and practicality. My content isn’t just about sharing knowledge—it’s about creating a community where insights lead to action. Whether it’s a DIY home repair or strategies for personal development, I aim to empower my audience with the tools they need to succeed on their terms.
Despite the risks and initial lack of support, I am most proud of my ability to pivot my career toward what truly inspires me. Starting my journey as a content creator and marketing consultant was daunting, especially as a single mother. Yet, the community that has blossomed around my content and the feedback that what I share genuinely helps others has been incredibly fulfilling. This validation has made the journey worthwhile and affirmed my belief that when you invest in your passions, the potential for impact is immense.
Above all, I am profoundly proud to be a mother to my little man, who inspires me daily. Balancing motherhood with my professional aspirations has deepened my commitment to authenticity and resilience, qualities that resonate strongly with my audience. Integrating my life’s realities into my work doesn’t just create content—it builds a personal and genuine connection with my audience, making our shared journey of growth and adaptation a core aspect of my brand.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is the power of resilience. Facing the unpredictable nature of life and business, I’ve realized that the ability to adapt and persist through challenges is invaluable. My transition from a stable career in marketing to the uncertain world of entrepreneurship and eventually to becoming an online content creator tested my resolve in countless ways.
Each setback, whether the struggle to commercialize our startup’s technology or facing initial low engagement on my online content, taught me that perseverance is critical. These experiences have shown me that success often comes from staying the course, learning from failures, and continuously striving for improvement. Resilience has not only been crucial for my professional growth. Still, it has also allowed me to model strength and adaptability for my son, reinforcing the importance of these qualities in all facets of life.
