I began my career in retail management, where I quickly learned the ropes of leadership and operations. However, it wasn’t until I transitioned into human resources that I truly found my passion. There, I discovered the immense satisfaction of supporting people and building teams prioritizing their well-being. In 2020, I left my corporate career behind as a CHRO/CXO and opened Patterson Consulting Group. It’s been an enriching journey since then. I’ve had the privilege of working with organizations dedicated to improving their business and employee engagement. I feel fortunate to have added three talented individuals to our team, each sharing our mission and values. Together, we’ve had the pleasure of serving clients across the United States, helping them create workplaces where success and employee satisfaction thrive.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Along the journey of starting Patterson Consulting Group, there were some bumps in the road. Initially, it took me a while to figure out how to explain what we could offer in a way that clicked with potential clients. It was like feeling around in the dark until I found the right words and approach. Then, when we started working with clients on their HR strategies, it could have been smoother sailing, too. Every organization had unique needs and quirks, so we had to learn to be flexible and adapt our methods to fit each situation. Sometimes, it felt like we were learning as we went along, but that’s just part of the process, right? And, of course, there was the challenge of convincing clients to trust us and invest in our services. Building that credibility and showing them the value of what we could do wasn’t challenging, especially with so many other consulting firms vying for their attention. But despite the hiccups and roadblocks, we kept pushing forward. We learned from our mistakes, got better at what we did, and slowly but surely, we started to see the fruits of our labor. It’s been a journey filled with ups and downs, but looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.
