Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Riegel.
Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my photography journey in Fall of 2017. I bought a camera initially to take photos of my pets, and trips. Then after posting photos of my pets, I had friends inquire for me to photograph them. It just took off from there. I started with close friends and family, and then from others from all over my area. I never took any classes or courses on photography, but with the help of online sources and local photographer friends, my skills evolved over the past four years. I am still learning every day, as the photography industry changes. I hope to one day travel out of state for sessions, but for now, I’ll stick to my roots.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been always been a smooth-sailing ride for me with photography. You’ll get discouraged when you don’t get as many bookings as you did the month or year prior. When someone inquires but doesn’t book. When you see all these amazing photographers, and their work blows you away. It makes you feel defeated. You’ll also have others that want tear you down, and make you think you aren’t good enough to be in this industry. However, then you get that couple or senior that brings that creativity back out when you’ve been in a rut. That photographer that will be your hype man for every session you post. That pick me up from God to know you’re on the right track.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer and specialize in seniors, couples, and weddings. I believe I’m known for my golden hour sun flares in my photos. I’ve been told, that’s why a lot have booked with me. I am most proud of my photos being in Peoples Magazine for a baby shower I did for a country singer and his wife. I believe my style, and my killer personality set me apart from others 😜.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the buildings! The old and the new! The architectural work that was put into each one. Also, the way this city comes together in times of need!
I’d say I like the least, is the crowded roads and traffic. I don’t do too well driving around there. So much to see, but can get lost easily. Especially since I’m from a small town.
