Check Out Heather Pippin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Pippin.

Hi Heather, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve been into photography since I was a teenager. I started out shooting mostly landscapes, nature, and wildlife. I’ve always just loved taking beautiful photos and enhancing them. I hit a rough patch early on in my life as a teen and photography played a major part in not only saving my life and keeping me out of trouble but it was the positive push I needed to get me to where I am today.

I am so grateful for this gift I have that has allowed me to grow not only as an artist but as a person. When I became a Mom, I started photographing my girls and then other people who would let me, along with still photographing landscapes when I would travel. I’ve been carrying out my passion for creating beautiful art for the last 10+ years. I’ve photographed everything from weddings to concerts. More recently I’ve fallen in love with boudoir and have chosen to focus on that.

I’ve struggled my whole life with my self worth and just feeling not enough or not good enough and being behind the camera for sessions that help others feel loved and worthy has been so healing for me. I’ve learned a lot about people, about myself, and about photography. I’ve worked harder the last couple of years than I ever have learning and growing. I am going to continue working hard. It can only go up from here.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy. There are times where I wanted to throw in the towel. But it’s always been worth it. If I were to speak to up-and-coming photographers I’d tell them to always hang on through any bad that may come your way because nobody can take away what makes you, you.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known in St. Louis for Boudoir and Creative Portraiture. I love dynamic moody lighting with an editorial feel. You’ll see that all through my work along with lots of contrast and color.

I am also pretty well known for family photography.

I am proud of myself, in general, I’ve worked incredibly hard to be the Photographer that I am but I’m most proud of my boudoir work. I’ve been able to really hone in on being creative from set design to lighting and editing. It’s pushed me to try new things and I think you can see in my work in even just the last couple of years there has been so much growth.

What’s next?
No big changes or future plans right now. I am happy and things are going well.
