Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Isaac.
Hi Morgan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Morgan Isaac Photography started off as a mere dream for a middle school girl with her phone camera. As a preteen, I spent countless hours taking photos of anything and everything often hearing “Put the camera away. We don’t need a photo of every second of our lives.”
Being the daughter of two educators, money was typically pretty tight, which meant the purchase of a high-quality camera was never in reach. With a love for photography, but no way to truly capture the beauty I was seeing in my eyes, I eventually left the dream. I went on to pursue a degree in elementary education, which quickly changed to business.
In December 2019, I graduated from Columbia College with my bachelor’s in Business Management and HR Management. Alongside me at graduation was my husband, who was at the time on active duty in the US Air Force, and our 4-month-old daughter. Nearly a week after graduating with my bachelor’s we found out we were pregnant again!
Fast forward to October 2020, I’m a young stay-at-home mother of two under the age of two, and feel as though I have nothing of my own. Motherhood is hard and it’s beautiful, but not in the sense that things are glamorous. I brought the idea of starting my own photography business to my husband.
I shared my visions and dreams about where I wanted to take the business, I never thought in less than 2 years I would be fortunate enough to have achieved any of it.
Several of the goals I had starting out were to be able to help provide financially while also getting ample time with our daughters, to travel out of state to photograph weddings/elopements, and to be the kind of photographer that makes everyone feel loved, beautiful, seen, and understood (something I was lacking as a new mom).
With all of these goals in mind, I landed on labeling myself as a lifestyle photographer, with a large focus on photographing the different stages of life. Having the opportunity to grow with several of my clients has been such a surreal experience. Watching clients go from dating, to engaged, to married, to parents, allows me to create a special relationship with them.
The relationship we form with one another gives me the opportunity to truly capture who they are in their current stage of life.
Creating and maintaining relationships with my clients has proven to produce the most authentic photographs. I know from personal experience that being in front of a stranger, with their camera in your face, can be awkward and intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be!
I’m so beyond thankful for all of the opportunities I’ve had and I cannot wait to see where Christ and my art will take me next!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Financially speaking, photography can be a difficult venture. Making the investment in high-end gear is very expensive and a huge risk when funds are tight, but it is also very necessary for success.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a lifestyle photographer, I aim to capture the story of the lives of my subjects, the story of their current season of life, and whatever that looks like for them!
What sets me apart is my ability to capture images that tell a story while also remaining timeless pieces that can be displayed on walls for decades to come.
I specialize in photographing young families, couples, and weddings.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love the feeling of nostalgia. I think my love for feeling nostalgic is what inspires me to create images that can take people back to certain moments in time.
My love for nostalgia makes me want to allow others to have constant access to something that will hopefully provide them with that same feeling.
