Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawny Ballard.
Hi Tawny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have been doing photography since I was a kid and have always loved it, but never thought to make a career out of wedding photography. I photographed my first wedding five years ago for someone I was friends with when I was in high school. I absolutely loved it. It only took photographing that one wedding for me to know that this is what I wanted to do all of my life. It was a winding path to get where I’m at, but I am now a full-time wedding photographer and entrepreneur and am loving every second of it!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Working through COVID-19 was definitely a struggle as a wedding vendor. With so many reschedules and a huge shift in the industry, I really had to learn how to adapt and be flexible to so many things that I can’t control.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wedding and couple photographer. I specialize in couples, but I have done a lot of work with the LGBTQ+ community and that is what I am known for. It sets me apart in that I am an expert in LGBTQ+ weddings, something that is uncommon in the Midwest. I am proud that my wedding photography is a celebration of love in ALL forms and my business is so inclusive.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
