Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Brown.
Hi Taylor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was working at Marshall’s and I had been for years because I was initially hired on during college. Well, after college it was tough finding and creating a career path in PR.
SO… I thought what else do I enjoy that would bring in substantial income other than working here. I prayed and waited for the moment I’d know what “thing” was. It came and I knew it would be teeth whitening. I tell people all the time, had I not been a creative person (wanting to be in entertainment) I would’ve been in dentistry!
I started to invest. Took classes, watched videos, researched and bought the necessary materials. Then COVID-19 hit and everyone’s quarantined. Of course, no one has any interest in getting their teeth whitened during the initial onset of the restrictions.
I gave myself a pep talk and I felt it in my spirit to wait. Since then, the world started to get to a point where we could see a future beyond our current circumstances and I felt like it was my time to jump back out there and relaunch my business. So I did!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It took budgeting for me initially because I knew I wanted to invest in myself obtaining a new skill, at that time I just didn’t know what.
In all honesty, my “ah ha” moment came right before quarantined was initiated. I was living with my Mom at the time and I used a good portion of my first stimulus to invest in myself and my business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a graduate from Stephens College with a BFA in Fashion Communications with a minor in Small Business Management. I’ve interned at a public relations agency in New York and have worked independently as a Public Relations Specialist. Professionally, I’ve worked as an Event Coordinator and Hospitality & Operations Manager in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m currently the Social Media Coordinator for Mod on Trend.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love about St. Louis is the pride in the culture of the city. Every neighborhood has its nooks of beautifully owned homes and small businesses with some of the best food!
The least thing I like is the violence that has truly plagued the city at times.
