Today we’d like to introduce you to Zayn Blitz.
Hi Zayn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for fashion. Growing up, family ways wanted me to help them put together looks, they always asked me what looked better, etc. Losing my bestfriend was the real reason I started my business because I made a promise to him. Government jobs, I just outgrew and I was completely over.
Walked out of my last government job at the age of 20 with no master plan, nothing but hope, and a dream. Started sewing for myself before others. My “Play” sister is the reason I got my exposure. Allowing me to present my gift live. That night I gained a massive clientele base. I am where I am today due to social media outlets and also word of mouth.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting your own business is never going to be a smooth road. I mean I’ve learned that, starting off I didn’t think it would be hard. You have your off-seasons and you have your ON seasons it’s up to you to go harder during your off-seasons. You have nasty just pure ignorant clients and you have the trusting/understanding clients.
I’ve faced the loss of clientele, I’ve faced disrespectful attacking clientele and I also deal with clients that I wouldn’t mind working with at any time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a self-taught fashion designer. My aesthetic is high-end couture. I am known for my couture pieces it’s like when I present a dress the audience will know it’s mine before actually knowing who’s behind the work. I’m most proud of my growth, I’ve come a veryyyy long way and it’s shocking to me because there were times when I just knew I wouldn’t or couldn’t achieve something. I had a lot of self-doubts within myself. I just always lived by the statistic “A Black man couldn’t be successful.”
My designs are EXTREMELY unique and outstanding. I don’t create the same look more than once and I have an amazing eye for detail! Sometimes I feel like I take on the most complicated yet challenging looks. I create from the heart, not just the eye that’s why my work stands out from others. It’s made with love.
Any big plans?
I’ve always seen myself in a store. I not only want to present your “Everyday Wear” in my store but I also want and plan to bring back high-end couture to the city. Needing a gown or suit for an event, I will have that available for purchase. So kind of like your next bridal/clothing store. I do have a big announcement that I will be releasing in a short period of time to the public.
I see myself creating my foundation here and relocating to another state and branching off opening up more locations. No store will be the same or have the same thing in it. Each and everyone will be unique! I’ll tell my story thru my stores! Gods time is promising and I’m waiting for him.
