Community Highlights: Meet Lauryn Brown of GuardianAngelz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauryn Brown.

Hi Lauryn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a 23 year young, born and raised in Saint Louis, MO entrepreneur that has always wanted to start my own business. I finally found the motivation to get started last year, in January 2021. The name “GuardianAngelz” originated from the passing of my Mom, Dad, and Granny.

All 3 have passed on to Afterlife and have now become my Guardian Angels. Between when I first started and now, I have blessed over 1,000 people with my gift. I have made some cry, and I have made some jump with joy. It always warms my heart and makes me want to keep being that vessel that some people need.

Although I still struggle with their sudden deaths, I made a promise to myself to turn my pain into passion as a way to help me and others heal. I’m looking forward to expanding my passion for this even more and hope to keep helping others heal from lost loved ones too!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road but of course, nobody is perfect so there were a few bumps getting to where I am now today. Some of the struggles I faced were receiving a lack of communication from customers, unpaid orders, and easily broken items from me using cheap tools at the time.

When I first started taking orders last year, I knew what I was doing but I had to test & trial the tools that I was using and they turned out to be less stronger than I thought which caused angry customers along the way at times. I acknowledge that I was still new and learning my craft and to have patience was a must.

Some stayed and still supported me until I got better, & then some said I don’t know what I’m doing and blocked me. Was I offended? No, because you live & you learn. Haters went come & go but instead of letting them intimidate me, it only made me want to prove them wrong and grind even harder. So that’s what I did.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I create custom memorializations in honor of lost loved ones.

That includes a variety of different necklaces, bracelets for both men & women, keychains, pacifiers, & voice-over teddy bears. In the near future, I plan to invest in a heat pressing machine so that way I can expand my business to t-shirts, mugs, candles, masks, & more!

I love being a business owner because after all I’ve been thru with past trauma, I still find ways to be there for others more than myself. Helping others is what helps heal me. I am very well known around the Lou and pray that my small business will become very well known one day as well.

I’m set apart from others because not only do I provide the service, but I make sure I pray over every item I make/sell as well as praying for each customer.

I say this because although my craft makes me happy and earns me money, it’s still a sad situation the fact that these are lost loved ones and that after they walk away from me, they will still struggle with their deaths.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice to those who are just starting out is to research research research!

A lot of inspired people just see something they’re interested in, watch a youtube video, and think they’re ready to go.

No, you need to know as much as you can first before starting a business.

Another piece of advice would be to save up some money before starting your business because nobody wants to be scraping change to make more income. The key to success is to have patience & positive energy.
