Community Highlights: Meet Tee Hanible of Black Queens Matter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tee Hanible.

Hi Tee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Black Queens Matter (BQM) is a space that pays homage to our Beautiful Melanin Queens. Established in 2017 via Facebook idea, we have now grown to a community of over 20K Black women all across the United States and recognized by both Essence and Black Enterprise. Queens, we sincerely welcome you to this interactive movement of uplifting and empowering not only our Black Queens but also our Black Communities as well!

Black Queens Matter I’d now a national movement that currently has over 20K members to include the legendary actress and comedian Kim Coles! Black Queens Matter is also home to #BlackQueensBrunch. Black Queens Brunch is a National monthly event hosted by our Black Queens Matter City Ambassadors that was started in February of this year. The purpose of Black Queens Brunch aims to put Black Dollars back into the hands of our Black Communities while also using our Brunches to not only highlight Black-Owned Restaurants but to network and support other Black Women entrepreneurs within our communities. Each month a different Black-Owned Restaurant is selected from each of the ambassador city’s to support for that month. We currently have Ambassadors in 24 cities, and we are still growing!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a challenging road, especially in light of Covid and having to pivot from what we’ve known in the past as “Meet Ups” to where we are now in light of a global pandemic, especially when it comes to reserving space for large parties and finding black-owned restaurants still in business in spite of Covid.

We’ve been impressed with Black Queens Matter, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our Black Queens Matter community also has a community on Clubhouse where we discuss topics on empowerment, self-care, building wealth, and other issues that positively support our community. You can join our Clubhouse community by Searching Black Queens Matter on your Clubhouse App.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
This movement was started, believe it or not, as a way to find my own safe space as I was going through a rough patch in my life and dealing with divorce.
