Today we’d like to introduce you to Aicha Liesenfeld.
Aicha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been making skincare products since 2013, shortly after my son was born. He had a bad case of eczema and I wanted a lotion that was made with the most natural ingredients. I wanted the very best for his delicate skin and so my journey into making my family skincare began. I ventured from lotion making to soap making a year later and I have been hooked since. I love knowing what goes on my and loved one skin and I believe the same goes for most people.
A few years ago, my daughter was diagnosed with a genetic condition called ataxia-telangiectasia and since it is a rare disease, there is very little awareness. There is a charitable organization called ATCP.org that has been phenomenal at funding research for a cure and as a mom, I wanted to do my part. I created Soap4cure (formerly known as Glow Naturale) as a way to “fundraise” for the ATCP. All the profits from my shop are donated to the ATCP.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Soap4cure business model is quite unusual. I run it out of pure love and enjoy receiving feedback from my customers. My biggest challenge is using my limited time effectively. I love to create but marketing my products is a pain. So I let my customers do the door to door marketing for me.
Eventually, I’d love to be able to have my products displayed in more local brick and mortar stores.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create from the comfort of my home kitchen after my kids have gone to bed. I am a night owl and it works for me. My husband handles all the promotional, marketing, label material for the business.
I am a busy mama with a full time job in supply chain. This hobby has been amazing because it keeps me sane and grounded. I love creating and feel so much joy when customers tell me how my products have been helping them in their skincare journey. It’s full circle therapeutic.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I welcome anyone to reach out to me directly for any collaboration, wholesale or bulk orders. Alternatively, for anyone who is compelled by the ATCP’s mission and would like to help, I encourage them to visit their website at www.atcp.org.
