Conversations with Cort Holland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cort Holland.

Hi Cort, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Being young and playing outside, my brother introduced me to skateboarding at the age of 10. It was new for me to learn, but I soon found a love for it. I then began to ride the skateboard almost everyday. With time I only became better. Years later I found that there were more people like me skating around in the city of Saint Louis. We became close friends from the love of skating. We began to meet up at random places and skated around the city. I used Instagram to share my love through digital media and noticed many people were interested in learning. I started teaching people throughout the city and began the group SkateStl.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Beginning the journey has been a very smooth journey for me. I had no idea so many people were interested in skating and have a love for skating like I do, so teaching had brung me great joy.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist here in the city of Saint Louis with many hats. I teach skateboarding and I am known for my photography and breakdancing. Recently I’ve grown to be most proud of my dancing. My dancing, I feel, helps me set myself apart from others. I enjoy being a cool long boarder here in Saint Louis as well as a breakdancer, and I want to thank everyone for loving my versatile nature, lol.

What matters most to you?
Unity is very important to me. I find unity the sole purpose in expansion and love. While exploring the passions inside my heart I soon found that with everything I love most there is also people with the same love and passion for the things I love. Unity in those things meets a great space for any and all people to grow.
