Conversations with LaTasha Marie

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTasha Marie.

Hi LaTasha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My focus is to uplift and empower our women and speak life into our black men. My mission is to teach Dark Skin Girls; that you are not just pretty for a dark skin girl. Your beautiful period! It’s time to bridge the gap between light skin and dark skin, so something that I was doing for fun. I decided to use to promote change.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This Journey has been incredible, honestly. Nothing is easy when you first start, but it’s the things you learn along the way and the mistakes you make. That no one knew you made but you, that make it all worth it. My biggest struggle was wanting to help everyone , because I wanted to see everyone win and learn that I couldn’t. It doesn’t matter how much I Believe in you; you have to believe in yourself. I had to learn to be selfish and focus on myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Her King Apparel is an online store only! I mainly do many vinyl designs, custom RTP and HTV prints. Although I have my line, I do custom work for other businesses and family functions. My brick vinyl is my favorite. I often use it on my Black Men/Women are dope shirts and hoodies. It’s 3D with a Matt finish. I am a feminist, so I am all about uplifting and empowering women, but I respect those who showed me the game. I didn’t get my ambition from my parents. I got it from the people I hung with. It’s the if I don’t hustle, I don’t eat mentality, the I’ll sleep when I die mindset. That gave me the drive I have today. I am the oldest of 4, but I don’t know what it is like to have to provide for my siblings at age of 16, but I know people who did. So I show my respect through my Hustle Collection. We are all equal because ,we are all out here doing what we have to do to provide for our families. This isn’t a popularity contest; for me, it’s the message that makes me different.

Have you learned any exciting or essential lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Never take anything for granted because you can lose it all in a matter of moments. And to always be prepared for the worst-case scenarios.
